The other day at the park Abbi wanted to walk all over the place, but she would occasionally stop to contemplate her next move. When she does this, she often starts to play with her hands. Its cute.

Also - I posted yesterday about the spaghetti all over her face. We had spaghetti again last night with grandmom and she wasn't interested in the meatballs at all, and not really in the spaghetti. The bread and desert she was definitely into!

Last week Abbi had a go at some spaghetti on her own. We let her eat it with her hands since she's still not to keen on using a fork or any other utensil not her hand. She clearly got it all over her face, so we just went for a bath afterwords instead of trying to wipe her clean.

Yesterday we celebrated our nephews Damein's 7th birthday and setup outside was a slip in slide. We decided to give it a try with Abbi and see how she liked it. She loved it! You can see her here ending up in the pool of water at the end. Jenn took this picture and I love it. I love how you can see the water plume Abbi and her raft created.

We got this onesie for Abbi when we were at Disney World back in April. First of all, that feels like forever ago, and when we bought this for her I thought it was gigantic, and now here she is wearing it. And walking in it! I took this picture last week when we were playing at the Kinder Farm playground.

Over the weekend we were playing outside with Abbi and after a bit she decided to climb up the steps and sit to relax, hence this picture.

Today Abbi had her 4th visit to the doctor to treat her port wine stain. This time she was back with the same doctor that we saw the first and second times. The doctor is amazing, very nice and patient with us and Abbi. They upped the power this time, just like the past three times and treated Abbi's cheek and nose as before. The bruising is just as bad as always, but Abbi did phenomenally this time. Once she was wrapped up, to keep her from moving around, she calmed down and didn't cry or squirm, she was amazing.

Now we'll start the process of recovery from this treatment and according to the doctor we should start to see significant improvement. We're hoping!

Grandmom and Grandad gave us Abbi's birthday present early so that she could go ahead and start enjoying it throughout the summer. It was this swing that we've put up in the tree in our front yard. As you can see, Abbi definitely enjoys the new swing. Thanks grandmom and grandad!

I think Abbi looks really cute in this picture. I'm bothered that its a little blurry, but that couldn't be helped. The sunglasses on her face lasted about 2 seconds before they were off and in her hands as she was trying to rip them apart. Jenn in particular liked this outfit as she felt it was definitely a "summer" shirt.

I'm going to post more details about my first Fathers Day on my other blog, but I figured I could throw a picture up here from yesterday afternoon. If it wasn't for Abbi I wouldn't have anything to celebrate, and being her father is definitely worth celebrating!

I haven't mentioned it yet here, but I suppose today is as good a day as any other. About 3-4 weeks ago we finally moved Abbi up from the Bumbo into her high chair. She seems to like it just as good, I would think she prefers it since there is a ton more room, but who knows. She now has a much larger eating surface, and fewer things seems to get lost down by her pants. Max however, can rest his head on her try, which she doesn't seem to mind. Its just like when he rests his head on our kitchen table.

As Abbi has grown up over the past year, she's always been a happy baby. When she was a tiny little newborn, she didn't cry all that much and when she did it was only because she wanted something. Now that she's older, she's pretty much the same way. She gets irritated when she's tired and hungry, otherwise, she's usually walking around with this smile on her face. And if for some reason its not there, she's probably thinking long and hard about something, or pooping.

Here's a picture of Abbi and Jenn together as we were walking up to the playground the other day. Not to much else going on new with Abbi in the last day or two, so just enjoy this picture!

This morning Abbi and I needed to stop at Mr. Tire to take care of a little tire issue. While we were there waiting I decided to give Abbi some goldfish crackers to appease her boredom. They are in this round plastic container that she was holding while eating the goldfish. So after eating an individual goldfish Abbi would grab my one hand to hold it up and then using her other hand she placed the container into my hand, telling me she wanted more. Amazing. I love this kid!

I'd say the countdown is on now. Less than a month to go before Abbi turns one. Jenn and I were talking this weekend about what it was like a year ago as we waited for Abbi to come and wondered what she and things with her would be like. I think its safe to say things have been awesome, and nothing like we expected.

It has become pretty much impossible to take a picture of Abbi with a card near her stating how old she is. We still try, but it doesn't work to well. However, she does love to smile and laugh and everything else, leading to pictures like the one below.

Abbi now has 7 teeth, and she's working really hard on one of her molars. This kid can eat like no one else. I mean she can really put food away. She just eats and eats, healthy stuff too, not just junk. She loves fruit and vegetables, and we really only give her water in her cups, or maybe a 90% water, 10% juice mix.

The big news though, she's walking. Abbi started walking almost a month ago. Just after I wrote my last big month post, she started walking a week later. She's now up to walking from room to room, 15-20 steps before she stops. She can go up and down the stairs. Get off the furniture herself. The other day, she turned her little chair on its back and used it as a step to get up onto the ottoman. Amazing!

We're constantly impressed with how smart she is, and all the things she can do. The last 11 months have been amazing to watch Abbi grow and learn. Jenn and I are both looking forward to Abbi's one year birthday as a celebration for her, but also for us. That we've made it through a year of very uncharted teritory.

I told Jenn last night, I love how Abbi is right now. I can look at her and smile and it comes right back to me looking just like this picture. She's starting to get more facial expressions, understand more things, and just overall be a fun person to be with. I love my little girl, and I'm certainly a proud father!

We've entered a new phase of peek a boo. Abbi is no longer interested in hiding under a blanket. Now instead she or I will hide behind furniture or other people. However, the resulting smiles are far better than they were a few months ago.

Last night we took Abbi to the Elizabeth's Landing playground so she could move around and play on the slides. She loves slides! The kid is fearless. She arches her back and away she goes and she loves it. All 2 seconds of the ride, then she's back up and ready to go again. I took this picture last night at the playground while we were playing a little peek-a-boo.

I'm guessing almost every little baby girl has struggles similar to Abbi. That being that when their parents dress them in ambiguous clothes, people just assume they are a boy. That was the case the other night at the game. Despite Jenn's attempt to girl things up with a barrette, because Abbi was supporting her team in bright orange, people assumed she was a boy. Now, some people had enough sense to see the barrette and know she was a girl, others, not so much. Such is the life of a little girl though I suppose.

I posted a picture of Abbi and I from the Orioles game on my other blog. Here you can see an example of the kind of fun Abbi was having last night!

Check out this dew! One might wonder, how to get Abbi hair styled with such ease, well, a simple bit of hair vacuuming and you have this awesome dew. Abbi had really long hair on top, and then all kinds of thicker short hair laying underneath. So, with the vaccum you can get the longer hair to stand up some and there you go.

In other Abbi related news - she's getting more teeth. She has a 7th tooth, 3rd on the bottom, poking through now. Its broken through, so I imagine the hard part for her is through. She's also starting to get one of her molars on the bottom of her mouth. I'm sure that will be a much larger effort on her part that this last tooth. So we're on our way to 8 teeth. She's had 6 teeth for a long time now, and no new ones, so its nice to see some developments there.

Over the weekend we had the opportunity to take Abbi into a pool for the first time. An actual pool this time, not a little wading pool in our backyard. She loved it. Once Jenn and I were both in the both in the pool and gave Abbi a minute to adjust to where she was, she loved it.

She was moving around kicking her feet, moving her arms, just enjoying herself. She was in the water probably about an hour before we decided to get out, and I thinks she would have stayed in longer if we had. Our experience this weekend, like many others, only makes us more excited to enjoy the summer with Abbi!

Friday, June 4, 2010

A couple of weeks ago this picture was taken, but it could actually be almost any night. If Jenn or I is using the computer, Abbi wants in. She wants to see what we're doing, and she wants to "help". In this picture I had put her in my lap and we were looking at Disney website together so that she could see something she would like.

I was able to catch Abbi mid-step over the weekend working on her walking skills. She's getting pretty good around the house, and braver by the day. She can go short distances before she falls down. I often find that she gives up and kinda plops down. Her biggest problem is making sure she's got her balance set before she starts trying to walk. In addition to that, we're helping her learn not to walk on her toes, which of course makes things harder.

How about another picture of Abbi playing in the water. Sure she's having help from her dad, but she's still playing. She seemed to enjoy the water, although she was a bit skeptical about it. In other water related news, Abbi is now using the full bathtub for her baths. Over the weekend we put away her mini-bathtub and she started using the real deal. She's enamored by the faucets, and of course being able to walk around the tub.

Yesterday we setup two pools for Abbi to play in. The first was this pool you see here, a little pink wading pool. We used this as the started pool for Abbi and then moved her onto a slightly larger pool that had a water spout. She enjoyed putting her hand over the water and playing with it in her hands.

It was pretty cool getting to see Abbi try out something new. Yesterday made Jenn and I even more excited to take Abbi to the beach and have fun with her there.
