Cole had his four month checkup yesterday and he's doing really well. He's weighing in at 15 lbs. 3 oz. these days and 25 inches long. He's healthy and progressing exactly as he should be at four months so we're all happy to know that!

Lots of changes this month. It really seems like Cole took some big leaps in the last month. I suppose to start off with he can roll over both directions now (from belly to back and from back to belly). Jenn often finds him in his crib laying on his belly because he's decided to roll over. So that's the first really cool development.
Also, Cole is really starting to smile and laugh at things. Its possible now to really interact with him and get him to laugh and smile at the things you're doing. He's always laughing and smiling at Abbi, but now he's also doing that with me and Jenn.
Bath time has gotten better too. I wrote last month that Cole really doesn't like bath time, but that has changed. Now that he realizes he can kick and play in the water, he's really starting to enjoy it more.
Last month I also commented that I think Cole is more like Jenn in his personallity. I still think this and now even more so. Jenn has a certain nature about her thats very caring about others and even though Cole is only 4 months old, that gentle nature seems to be how he is. Who knows, I could be way off, and this time next year I might the complete opposite thing to say about him.
His motor skills are improving too he's really getting a hold of things like his toys, and his feet. Its really cute to see him try and sit up too. He does really well with help sitting up from a lay down position.
I look forward to the days when Cole can talk and we'll be able to understand him but for now he talks about lot, we just have no idea what he's saying.

With deck construction under way in our backyard, there is a decent sized pile of dirt back there. Abbi found it and loves it. The last two nights she has wanted to get out there and play in the dirt. Climb on it, slide down it, sit in it, throw it. Everything, in the dirt.

Abbi loves Cole. Ridiculously. Jenn bought Abbi a new pool for the summer and she loves it. Cole also seemed content to get in and have his feet in the water. So when we went to take a picture of Cole, Abbi HAD to be in it too. So Jenn tried to get a decent shot of the two of them in their summer apparel.

I think this might be my "latest" post yet, when it comes to the monthly postings. But again, better late than never.
There haven't been any leaps and bounds with Abbi in this past month, but we have started working a process that will hopefully have her able to go to sleep on her own by the time I write this the next time. Even with that process, we're still struggling to get her to sleep the full night in her bed. We're really not sure what it is that makes her come in our room when she wakes up because its not necessarily every night, but off and on.
I think she's really starting to move into the phase of picky eating. Most nights we are able to coax her into eating whatever we're eating, but sometimes, its just not happening. She really likes a good variety of foods, its more that she just feels like not eating I think out spite or in an effort to assert herself. Either way, its becoming a struggle some nights at the dinner table. I'm happy for her willingness to try new things, I just wish it was a little more. But I gotta give it to her in one regard that is if we fix something she likes, she devours her food, and its awesome.
I can't really put into words quite how I feel about this little kid. More and more each day I look at her and she really is a reflection of me. She's got a very similar personality to me, only its a kid version of my adult personality. So in some ways its cute, and in others I have to admit a bit worrysome. But regardless, I look at her and can't help but smile. She truly is an awesome little kid.

Its been almost another 2 weeks since Cole turned 3 months, but since it was on a weekend, I have failed immensely to get around to writing about him.
One of the best improvement for us with Cole in the last month has been that he's now sleeping through the night. He typically goes to bed between 8:30 and 9:30 and then sleeps until about 6 am, eats and then sleeps again until about 8:30. So finally after all these months, Jenn is able to get a decent amount of rest, that is when Abbi lets her.
He's doing fantastic with his motor skills. He's got really strong legs, and he's still working keeping his head up. He's done some time in the bumbo, but not to much just yet. We've still been battling on and off with a rash that Cole has had since he was just born. Since he's got this chubby little neck and such, it tends to get infected and creams seem to do him good, but we can't seem to rid him of it completely.
Cole is also really starting to get some personality. I can't say enough how much he seems to love Abbi. She loves him to death so that helps, but she really interests him. Its really nice to see her take an good interest in him, one that will hopefully foster a good sibling relationship between them as they get older.
I've come to the conclusion also that Cole is more like Jenn in that he loves to be awake in the morning. If I see him before work he's always very happy and smiling. And just like Jenn, at night he's tired and just wants to get to bed. Its really awesome seeing him smile too. Those are becoming more and more frequent as well. There are times though when he looks at you with the most stoic face ever.
One more thing, this is more a difference between kids. Cole hates bath time. I mean hates it. Jenn does it all the time since she's home, but he hates it. By the time Abbi was in the mini-tub she loved bath time. Not Cole, little man hates being in there. So that means the beach should be interesting in a few months.

This is how Cole spends a decent amount of his time. Walking back from the game last Mother's Day Cole passed out and was snoozing hardcore. Jenn carries Cole around the house a good bit like this and honestly, he really seems to like it.
